I’ve seen way too many discussions as of late about how women should not be preachers or leaders in a church well I am going to give you this verse:
Romans 16:1-2 (ESV)
I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church at Cenchreae,
that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron of many and of myself as well.
Now for the verses where Paul wrote a women should be silent in church he is speaking about a normal church going women not one in position. Several women had positions in the early church’s that Paul established. The start of Romans 16 names then. 1 Timothy 3 lays out the guidelines in a letter of encouragement to Timothy remember we have to look at the context of the writings and not apply to all. When studying the bible hermeneutics is very important. Woman have played a major part in the bible on several occasions at a time when Palestine women by law was considered liars Jesus used women to announce his resurrection and a Samarian women at the a well to teach a Gentile village. So please do not believe sexist doctrine of the American early church.
