Wolves as Leaders: Beware of false teachers

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

(Matthew 7:15)

Today we can be over saturated with preachers on Television and the radio, yet what information are we getting from them? As we know there will be some that come in the name of God but they are here to deceive and they can perform miracles, but they have a false doctrine. What is a sign of a false teacher? Well in Matthew again it is explained:

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

(Matthew 5:19)

So as we can see one major sign of a false teacher is a person that breaks even the least of the commandments. So let’s take that and apply that to those that we see on pulpits all over media. What are some of the things that they have done? In Romans 13:9 Paul wrote that

“For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

(Romans 13:9)

At the end of the verse we see where it is stated Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. This is a theme that we should never forget, Jesus says the same things in the Gospels. So the first clue of a false teacher would be a person that does not love his neighbor as their self. So take that and apply it to the person on the pulpit. Do they stand up for the community out of unity not condemning a person or group because of what they are, do they do positive outreach in the community instead of hate talk? Do they call for service in times of need like during a natural disaster?

Another example of what to look for we can find in the Gospel’s at almost every interaction with the Pharisees. Jesus called them Hypocrites many times and it was true. The teachings they were to follow was often lost for prophet. They turned the Temple into a money exchange and walked with their noses stuck up. As well they practiced class separation, meaning that the poor where treated below those of great wealth. As we should be aware of the Beatitudes: Blessed are the poor. We are supposed to help out brothers and sisters that are down. We should lift them up not make them footstools of the wealthy. Yet even in our society we are doing the same.

Who can be false teachers? I have already said examine those on the pulpit, but what about the everyday people? You, me, the man down the street. Anyone can be a false teacher a pusher of deceit, if we go against the scriptures as it is written by main through the knowledge of God. We are given guidelines on how to live a life in Christ throughout the New Testament from Jesus and the Apostles. Let’s look at some of them right now of what a Real Teacher should be and represent:

  1. Love your Neighbor as you love yourself
  2. Blessed are the poor.
  3. Take Care of Widows
  4. Be of a Sober Mind
  5. Married to ONE Wife
  6. Does not twist scripture
  7. Speaks with love even in the face of sin and death.
  8. Does not give into the world

This was just a short list there are many more. As vessels of Christ we everyday are reprehensive of him and his works. If we walk one way and talk one way we are setting the bad examples that push people away from God or excludes others from God. There is no reason to not to help each other or lift up one another when we are down after all we are told to take on one another’s burdens. Yet when we are out and about how many of you pass by the homeless man in the ally way, and you think to yourselves “Why don’t he get a job?” or something vulgar to the spirit. When you see a homeless person you should remember they are human they are your brothers and they are your sisters. You should speak with them as they were your best friend since kindergarten. Speak life into the souls of everyone, remember at one time you had to struggle and you kept your faith and got through it, well the homeless man did not and for that we should help bring them back and up lift them. We should make them aware that in heaven a mansion is made just for them.

So every time we step in the public eye we have God watching and then those around us, if you give money to the homeless you are setting an example to those around you. A walk in Christ is a glorious time and the life you have you can pass on to others. On the other side of that corn is if you claim to be a Christian yet you walk in a way that is more of a demon then you push away those that need Jesus yet they see you and get a taste of bitterness from your actions. Jesus never once turned away those who seek him, he did tell us though that not all will find him. There are so many Wolves in this world, some on purpose and others because the pride and arrogance they have has made them corrupted and full of themselves.

We should always be aware, as people we are easy to be confused due to Satan working in our world. We are surrounded by demons and they do not want us to know the truth, so people defend these false teachers and those in that planter’s field will just wither away and become dead. While the farmer that waters with the water of God and grows the crop will produce a harvest for God. In the end the false should be weeded out and separated from those that practice in truth and Love. Remember to always test the person you are getting your spiritual food from, never trust anyone with a blind eye. Sometimes you may not agree but an agreement with you is not what you should look for but an agreement with Christ in the Bible is what you are looking for.

“Our Father who art in heaven hallow be thy name, give us the knowledge to understand your word. Give us the courage to spread your message to those that need it most. Our Father I beg you to open the eyes of those that deceive your word. In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit Amen.”
